My name is Kerene Edie. I am a mother to a beautiful girl and baby boy. I was born and raised in Jamaica, West Indies. As a young girl I was teased because of my slender body frame and called “Olive” in reference to the character Olive Oyl in the cartoon, Popeye. Olive was a scrappy, headstrong young woman visually characterized by her exaggeratedly slim build. So as a child I always hated my middle name Olivet, as well as other things that made me unique.

 

            My friends did not know Olivet was my middle name and rightly so as my pet name was way too close to my actual name. So I spent most of my life not sharing that information till I became an adult. You can imagine everyone’s shock including my mama when I redid my business branding including the name- Olivet. It came with laughter as the joke was now on them. I finally accepted the name. I came to realization that until I embraced every part of me, I cannot fully and effectively walk into who I truly am- a sucker for love and a hopeless romantic- as Olive was to her Popeye.  

     

               So I started loving who I am and that included my middle name, Olivet. One of my favorite things as a Decorator, Event Planner and Project Manager is to make things that aren’t as beautiful special and beautiful. So I redefined beauty in my own terms and that included me embracing every aspect of myself.

 

I have been in the Event planning and Project Management industry since 2018 and enjoy every single aspect of the industry- yes, even with the stresses and all. ​Events By Olivet is based in NYC and we provide services across and outside the United States.
